Chomp Ledges and traversal
Rextro, the character, has some notable traversal limitations. He cannot walk up slopes or jump. My task was to determine the best way for him to navigate the environment.
To allow Rextro to ascend, he latches onto what I call a chomp ledge (represented by purple bars), executes a flip, and lands neatly. I proposed removing player control during this traversal transition to ensure the movement remains consistent, reducing frustration and friction in gameplay.
Given Rextro's movement restrictions, I also suggested that one of our level themes should incorporate moving platforms, adding a more dynamic, motion-based element. I designed a level where moving platforms serve as the core mechanic, with chomp ledges playing a crucial supporting role.
